Beavertails have been a popular Canadian dessert that I didn’t have the honour of trying until my time in Ottawa. Thanks to BeaverTails, I had a try of my first Beavertail right in the heart of the Capital!
There are multiple locations for Beavertails and it’s very distinctive because of it’s bright red colours and overarching “Beavertails” sign. I had a visit to the one in Byward Market, so of course the stall was pretty busy with customers!
During my visit to this location, I had ordered the Banana and Chocolate Beavertail along with a French Vanilla Cappuccino. There were some tables by the stall in Byward Market, however, due to the crowdedness at the time, my partner and I were forced to find seating elsewhere in the market. It was perfectly okay though – all part of the dining experience!
The service was very kind and served us quickly despite there being a lot of orders to fill. Beavertails have really owned up to their name for professional, popular and amazing service.
French Vanilla Cappuccino retailed at approximately $2.25 for a one size only drink, and I must say that the size of the drink was a bit disappointing. However, the taste of it was very good, though for my personal taste it was a bit too sweet.
The Banana and Chocolate Beavertail was a great treat, and I am a true fan of the banana and chocolate combination. The bananas and chocolate seem to also have a light coating of powdered sugar, and the beavertail itself was made fresh and crisp. The tastes were all very splendid, however for a person who is not a huge sweet tooth, this could be a lot to eat! Make sure that if you’re not a huge fan of dessert, that you share a beavertail with a friend!
Overall, my first Beavertail experience was complete, and I’m so happy to have had my first one right in Ottawa!
