During my time in Ottawa, I had a chance to eat at many great places. However, I must say that my most frequently visited location for food was Bento Sushi in the Rideau Centre location.

Almost every work day, I would venture out of the Department of National Defence into the Rideau Centre, where I would take myself across the food court and go to the secluded area of the mall closer to Rideau street where Bento Sushi was located.

I personally liked Bento Sushi’s placement in the mall; it was a nice chance to have a nice, spacious eating space all while being amidst the hustle and bustle of the mall’s activities. The decor of the seating was also nicely polished and offered comfortable atmosphere. Placing my order at this location was also very quick, and within 5-10 minutes a beautiful order of Japanese food could be served to my table.

My usual order, and possibly my all time favourite at Bento was the Beef Udon – which offered a flavourful bonito flavoured brother, niku beef, imitation crab cake, seaweed, pickled carrots and sesame seeds all in a freshly prepared bowl.

The broth at its first sip always left me reminiscing about Japan – the broth is really flavourful and offers authentic taste. In addition to this, the beef was always perfectly prepared, tender and packed with flavour from its marination. I really enjoyed the seaweed flakes which cooked in the broth and added a nice touch to the overall dining experience. This dish was also really reasonably priced, for $9 including tax, you could have this wonderful noodle soup.
