Many times, my boyfriend and I have passed by this little coffee shop on Carlton Street called Black Bear Espresso, and one day we finally found ourselves going there to try out what they have to offer in the midst of our midterm/assignments/projects fast approaching.

This café was a hidden gem on Carlton Street amidst the high rises and condominiums. The first thing which always caught my eye when I passed by was their cute chalkboard sign which had a unique message written on it every time I passed by it. Their sign was also eye catching with the art of the Black Bear hovering over the establishment.

The inside wasn’t disappointing either – we were greeted to warmth and welcoming staff, who greeted us right when we entered the place. We looked at the menu and the pastries on displayed, and we ordered some Hot Chocolate, Coffee Brew, and Chocolate Croissant to munch on for our morning together.

The hot chocolate was exactly what I was craving – and the marshmellows and whipped cream were just a bonus for my morning! In the hot chocolate I had 2 marshmellows and a little fluff of whipped cream which added to the sweetness in my morning. It was however, a little bit small – I wish it was in a larger cup!

My boyfriend’s coffee was a simple brew, but something that they couldn’t have gotten wrong. We were able to sip on these and enjoy on the large couch that they had in the estahlishment. Black Bear truly made it like we were at home.

Lastly, the chocolate croissant was definitely adding to the taste of my morning! It was perfectly flaky, soft, and filled with the right amount of chocolate that left me feeling deeply satisfied. I think that they could have made it a little bit hotter, however, the temperature of the pastry wasn’t something of note to truly complain about. It was still a great treat for my morning spent with my partner.

Overall, the many times that we have passed by Black Bear and wanted to try it had finally paid off. We were able to truly experience the Black Bear and I would not say that that is our last visit! I could see myself stopping by another time, but this time for a cup of coffee!

Be sure to visit Black Bear Espresso – it’s located on 25 Carlton Street!
