On Cumberland Street in Yorkville, Dimmi’s Bar and Trattoria reigns supreme with their authentic and tasteful Italian cuisine. I had been here once back when I used to live in Yorkville, but I haven’t been in nearly 3 years. I was happy to have gone back with one of my close friends, who I decided to catch up with after my work shift that day.
Upon arrival, the restaurant was fully packed, and I could already tell that it was going to be a great dinner. The waiter greeted us and we were set at a table in the middle of the restaurant. The ambiance was great, but because of Dimmi’s popularity the restaurant was quite loud due to the customers’ chatting. That’s not a major issue though, I was still able to talk with my company in front of me without feeling like I needed to scream at him!
We ordered, and after a few minutes our dish was ready and served at our table. Above was my selection for the night – I was inspired to have something similar to what I had at my company dinner at Gamberoni, so I ordered theFettucine Alla Riveria which had shrimps, clams, scallops, mussels, and calamari ragu. With Parmesan cheese, this dinner surpassed even the linguine I had a few nights before, and that one was already delicious to begin with! Everything in this meal balanced out, there were no ingredients which felt overwhelming, nor too little. I ended up finishing my entire plate in no time!
Above, my friend had ordered an interesting dish which I had no clue what it was until he explained to me that it was a bit of a rice dish. This was Riscotto Funghi which had portobello, shitake and oyster mushrooms in it. I had a small sample of it and for something small in size, it was packed with flavor. My friend was able to finish this off with ease as well.
Overall, my visit to Dimmi’s for a second time, just made me realize that I will need to visit on more occasions. It was extremely delightful to be able to come back and dine here again, and it was definitely a treat after working 9 to 5!
