Besides the trending soft serves at Sweet Jesus or the original chimneys at Eva’s – it’s rather difficult to find really exquisite desserts in Toronto and around the GTA. Montchant is an establishment that really took the cake (literally!) with serving some of the most beautiful desserts I’ve seen. Opened recently for about 4 months, Montchant has taken up the dessert and cafe scene, offering its customers beautiful atmosphere to lounge in and enjoy their delicacies of desserts and variety of hot beverages such as espressos and organic teas.
MontChant is a family ran patisserie & coffee shop based in midtown Toronto. At their shop, you can find fresh pastries on a regular basis. Whether you are looking for a cozy place to rest, or a place to order a dream cake for the day, MontChant truly caters to all!
The inside of Montchant was fully decorated – with comfortable decor and very cute compliments. I really liked the tea set that was sitting on a table stand nearby; I felt that it added a nice touch to the ambiance in the cafe. There was also a beautiful, welcoming white couch sitting nearby and facing towards Yonge Street. The entire shop overall was just beautifully polished, but what really made the cafe unique was the glass display of all the desserts!
Simply beautiful displays of dessert and art – I was so excited to feast my eyes on all of them that I couldn’t make a choice on what I wanted to try for some time! They had classic desserts such as Tiramisu and Carrot, but they also had some unique options such as the Cream Puff, which I ended up choosing to try during my visit to the location!
This beautifully crafted Cream Puff had a nice, fluffy pastry that was filled with a soft cream inside. It was garnished with different flavours of icing and a fresh raspberry on top – along with a capsule which contained a very light and sweet raspberry sauce which would be squeezed onto the pastry puff.
Now for all new Foodie Utopians on the blog, I’m not so much of an overly sweet fan. I like my desserts to be light and I like dessert portions to be small. I am happy to say there were little, if not no complaints, about the choice I made at Montchant. The raspberry sauce that I sprinkled on top of my pastry puff added just the right amount of sweetness that I was looking for, all while complimenting the textures of the pastry and the tastes of the cream inside.
I also paired my dessert with a great Vanilla Latte prepared by the professional and friendly staff at Montchant, and it was truly crafted to perfection. I didn’t need any additional cream or sugar for this beverage because it was also ideal the way it was!
To end off the visit to Montchant, I was honoured to try some of their Macarons which came in different flavors – such as lemon, passionfruit, mango, cherry and many more! I took a box home to my family and they really loved how fresh it tasted. Macarons are a delicacy to come by – it was so nice to be able to try Montchant’s!
