Sake Sushi was a visit I’ve made on several occasions whenever I commuted from Toronto back to Brampton where my parents are. This is because this restaurant is found right near the intersection of Highway 7 which is enroute back to home. Recently, this has become a favourite of mine to visit whenever I’m craving a lot of sushi, and the selection is of an “All You Can Eat” variety. I’ve been here with my brother, friends and my boyfriend, so I can have a fair opinion on Sake Sushi and what they have to offer!
A suggestion for all foodie utopians – not just for Sake Sushi but for any AYCE restaurant, make sure you order all your sushi and sashimi first before you get the hot foods. AYCE restaurants tend to serve the hot items first so that you can get full faster, and then you don’t get as much sushi and sashimi as the typical Japanese Cuisine lover would like! Keep that in mind when you’re visiting establishments such as this one.
This is a documentation of what my boyfriend and I ordered during our most recent visit. I liked that we were seated quickly, and were not given a menu, but a tablet to send off an order of whatever we desired (talk about technological advancements!). We chose options on the tablet, sent off the order, and within literally seconds our order would be coming to our table. This cycle continued until we couldn’t feel our stomachs anymore!
Miso Soup and Seaweed Salad
To start off our AYCE feast, we had a couple of bowls of miso soup and seaweed salad. These were served with quality – the plating was great, especially on pristine, white plates. The Miso Soup was served a little bit on the cooler side, but the taste was definitely there. The seaweed salad was also refreshing and set my palette for the rest of the feast coming!
Unagi Dragon Rolls, Red Dragon Rolls, Spicy Salmon Rolls
I love having sushi maki rolls and special rolls; my boyfriend and I had our mind set on getting a lot of rolls themed around unagi (BBQ eel), and salmon. These rolls were beautifully made with cucumber, avocado, crab sticks, and tempura bits. It was really tasty and for an AYCE variety, the quality is one which is hard to find. Sake Sushi really hit it home with the quality of the feast, as well as the presentation of it.
Salmon, Squid, White Tuna Sashimi and Unagi Sushi
We cannot have Japanese food without having some sashimi. I ordered salmon, white tuna, and squid sashimi for the table. The Salmon and White Tuna Sashimi was really delicious, the freshness of the sashimi was evident because of the cold temperature of the fish. It was extremely refreshing and the quantity was exactly what we wanted (since we ordered that much!). The squid sashimi was a bit more on the fishy side, but the good thing is that we ordered only 3 pieces. Unagi sushi was delicious of course.
Rainbow Rolls and More Salmon Sashimi!
Near the end of our sitting, I made 1 order of rainbow rolls for my boyfriend, remembering before at Top Sushi in Toronto we had ordered this during a lunch sitting and it was his favourite. However, he was pretty full and he struggled to finish. We still did though! We had also added some more salmon sashimi to the menu.
Beef Tatatki and Shrimp Tempura
At the last ordering in our AYCE frenzy as well, we ordered Beef Tataki, or “Beef Sashimi” as labeled in the tablet. My boyfriend didn’t like this one, but I thought it was well done. The sauce was a bit sour though, so I can see why he may have had some distaste for it. I ordered the Shrimp Tempura just for taste, and also wanted something hot to balance out all the sushi and sashimi we had for dinner that night, so I only ordered 2.
Green Tea Ice Cream and Chocolate Ice Cream
At the end of our meal, it’s almost criminal if you don’t end off AYCE sushi with some ice cream. More specifically, green tea ice cream! I ordered 2 scoops just for myself – my boyfriend wanted to have 1 chocolate ice cream scoop.
Overall, Sake Sushi was a great find, and I’m happy to say that every time I get a chance on my way home from Toronto to Brampton, I’ll try to make my way over here for some sushi. In fact, I would probably make this my #1 to go spot for sushi with my family due to its proximity to our house! I definitely recommend this restaurant due to the quality of service and food Sake Sushi provides.
