I absolutely love crepes as my potential go-to for dessert (if I ever feel like having it!) and when I was invited to T-Swirl Crepes, I was extremely excited to visit their location and have some tasty crepes!
T Swirl is conveniently located on Yonge Street, near the major intersection of Yonge and Wellesley. This meant that commuting from the University of Toronto was very easy and it was nicely situated on Yonge Street. The crepe shop is nice and snug, but it wasn’t so small that it was unbearable. I really loved the displays of the crepes outside by the window, with many Japanese inspired restaurants, they usually have an artistic display of the food which I feel adds character to the shop.
By the counter as well, there were customized T-Swirl packages waiting to be filled with sweet and savoury crepes. I really liked the concept of it because it was easy to eat from and give customers a chance to eat the crepes almost like a shawarma or wrap. It made the dining experience a lot easier for everyone who visits T-Swirl Crepes.
The set-up is quite simple: you can find the menu of choices right at the counter and watch the staff prepare your crepe live in action. All the toppings are fresh and of high quality, and the crepe itself is prepared fresh as well. I really enjoyed the open concept and the fact that you can enjoy a little show of the preparation before you indulge into your great crepes!
T-Swirl introduced me to a new fact – that crepes can be beautifully prepared as a savoury crepe! I was under the notion that crepes were always a dessert type dish, however T-Swirl really put the twist in their options. You could order a savoury crepe that can have some delicious proteins and other toppings that could potentially be your lunch. I thought this was a great concept.
I ended up ordering the Angus Short Rib Crepe, as a savoury option, and try a Lychee Romantic for the sweet crepe. Both of these crepes were absolutely phenomenal. The Angus Short Rib was a pleasant surprise because it tasted really nice with the crepe. It could basically serve as your lunch for the day! The Lychee Romantic was also a special treat – the freshness and light sweetness of the lychee paired beautifully with the raspberries and sauce that were added to the crepe. It was a great sweet treat!
Overall, the food had some extremely quality, and I would definitely recommend having crepes at this establishment! For more information on T-Swirl Crepes, visit: http://t-swirlcrepe.com/
